The Illinois Retail Merchants Association (IRMA) has received a license from the Illinois Commerce Commission to act as an electric agent, broker, and consultant.

The Illinois Retail Merchants Association earlier this year hired Brian Hoeger as Vice President of Energy Services. Hoeger previously served in several roles at Constellation and Exelon Energy, including acting as manager for various trade association alliances, such as Constellation's then-agreement with IRMA.

The Illinois Retail Merchants Association had run since the start of deregulation in Illinois a single-supplier electricity procurement program for its members, which had been supplied most recently by Constellation

However, Crain's Chicago Business reports IRMA has ended its exclusive member supply agreement with Constellation

IRMA represents more than 20,000 retail stores.
