Florida Chamber Files Legal Brief Opposing Inclusion Of Electric Choice Initiative On Ballot

April 19,2019

The Florida Chamber of Commerce has filed a brief with the Florida supreme court opposing inclusion of the proposed electric choice initiative on the 2020 ballot

The Supreme Court reviews ballot initiative language for compliance with various requirements, including a "single subject" requirement

As previously reported, the state's Attorney General opposed inclusion of the electric choice initiative on the ballot, claiming that the language was not clear and unambiguous and does not comply with the requirements of section 101.161(1), Florida Statutes

The Florida Economic Development Council (FEDC) joined the Chamber's brief

The Associated Industries of Florida (AIF), the Florida Health Care Association (FHCA) and the Florida Hospital Association (FHA) also filed a separate brief opposing the electric choice initiative

See Florida Politics for the story

Florida Politics also reports that the Urban Leagues of Jacksonville, Central Florida & Palm Beach County are also opposing the electric choice initiative
