Retail Supplier’s Insurance Provider Balks At Paying Defense Costs For Customer Class Action Suit

July 26,2017

The Bangor Daily News reports that the insurer for Electricity Maine is opposing claims under which it would fund legal costs related to Electricity Maine's defense against a class action suit against the company over its alleged pricing and disclosures.

Electricity Maine argues that the policy covers its costs related to the litigation

The suit relates to a period of time prior to the sale of the company to Spark Energy

The BDN reports, "In the insurance dispute, the parties agreed to dismiss Electricity Maine’s current owner, the Houston-based Spark HoldCo, as the company was not connected to Electricity Maine during the time the policy was active."
