Ohio Budget Passed By House Encourages Retail Supplier Access To Customer Data

The version of the Ohio budget passed by the House (House Bill 166) includes an amendment to R.C. 4928.02 to encourage the provision of customer usage data with retail suppliers
The bill would amend R.C. 4928.02 by adding provisions stating that it is the policy of the state to:
• "Encourage cost-effective, timely, and efficient access to
and sharing of customer usage data with customers and competitive
suppliers to promote customer choice and grid modernization."
• "Ensure that a customer's data is provided in a standard
format and provided to third parties in as close to real time as
is economically justifiable in order to spur economic investment
and improve the energy options of individual customers."
