In conducting outreach and education regarding the electric shopping process, PPL told customers, via an interview with the Carlisle, PA Sentinel, that, "[v]ariable rates can rise dramatically," and customers therefore need to be familiar with their terms and conditions.

However, a PPL spokesperson also noted that, "There’s money to be saved in lower-energy months," with variable rates. "It has to be a risk you’re willing to take," the spokesperson told the Sentinel

Regarding fixed rates, PPL told customers to be cognizant of early termination fees.

Overall, PPL's message was that customers should shop. "If you’re not shopping, then you could be losing on savings," PPL told the Sentinel
