Pa. Pol: "Dangerous" for Residential Customers to Have Variable Rate, Will Reintroduce Rate Cap Bill

November 20,2014

"It's just a dangerous, dangerous situation for a residential customer to go into a variable rate," Pennsylvania state Rep. Bob Godshall told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Last session, Godshall sponsored a bill to cap rate increases under variable rate plans, and Godshall told the Tribune-Review he will reintroduce the measure next year.

The Tribune-Review also discusses what some retail suppliers, such as Direct Energy and Constellation, are doing to protect customers in advance of this winter (such as new smart thermostat offerings and pushing fixed rates), and in doing so the Tribune-Review reports Direct Energy has 200,000 customers in Pennsylvania.
