PSNH Default Service Rate May Increase

October 13,2014

SeacoastOnline.com reports that, while Public Service Company of New Hampshire has otherwise forecast a small decrease in its default service rate for the period beginning January 1, 2015, all other things being equal, PSNH may soon receive approval to include more costs in the default service rate, pushing it up.

Specifically, SeacoastOnline.com reports that PSNH may receive approval to include the full Merrimack Scrubber costs in the default service rate. Currently, only a temporary Scrubber rate of 0.98ยข/kWh is included in the default service rate.

"PSNH spokesman Martin Murray said the NHPUC has indicated it may allow PSNH to fully recover the costs it paid up front for the $422 million mercury scrubber at Merrimack Station," SeacoastOnline.com reports
