FirstEnergy announced that its FirstEnergy Ohio residential customers who take generation service from the utility will pay lower prices on their electric bill starting June 1, as a result of the most recent SSO auction

FirstEnergy Ohio said that residential customers who receive all facets of their electric service from Ohio Edison, The Illuminating Company and Toledo Edison using 750 kilowatt-hours of electricity, on average, will save about $40 annually compared to utility generation pricing in effect previously. In addition, customers whose price per kilowatt-hour from a competitive supplier is tied to the utility "price to compare" are also expected to benefit from savings.
Separately, the Illinois Citizens Utility Board reminded customers of previously reported new Prices to Compare at ComEd and Ameren
CUB said that, as of June 1, ComEd's summer "price to compare" is down nearly 10 percent from its winter rate. According to the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC), this is the new ComEd price through September 30, 2020: 6.473¢/kilowatt-hour (kWh)
CUB said that, as of June 1, according to the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC), this is the new Ameren price through September 30, 2020: 4.396 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh), which CUB said is down slightly from the prior rate
"Consumers who are pitched an offer from an alternative energy supplier should compare that company's price to ComEd's supply rate above. Over the last five years, residential and small-business customers in Illinois have lost $870 million to alternative electric suppliers, according to state officials," CUB said
