NiMo Expects Winter Retail Electric Rates to Be Lower Than Last Year

September 30,2014

Syracuse.com reports this morning that a National Grid (NiMo) forecast of electric rates to be released later today forecasts that rates are expected be lower than those of last year.

Syracuse.com noted that this contrasts with Massachusetts, where National Grid procures six-month fixed price full requirements contracts, with supply rates doubling for this winter. Unlike in Massachusetts, National Grid in New York relies heavily on NYISO spot prices, along with various hedges

Syracuse.com said that specific details of the forecast were not available in advance of National Grid's announcement
