Long Island Lawmakers Decry "Poison Pill" Charge In LIPA Tariff For Opt-out Municipal Aggregation

October 06,2020

Long Island, New York lawmakers, as well as towns which are seeking to adopt opt-out electricity aggregations, are decrying what they term a "poison pill" in the recently modified LIPA tariff authorizing opt-out municipal aggregation, Smithtown Matters reports

The adjustment in the tariff, described as a pass-through of the purchase of on-Island capacity for which no market exists, is to ensure all customers pay a "proportionate cost", LIPA told WSHU

Long Island lawmakers are drafting legislation to require LIPA's CCA tariff to conform to those at utilities subject to PSC jurisdiction concerning CCAs. See Smithtown Matters for more
