Utility Shuts Down "Flawed" ESCO Vs. Default Service Price Calculator (Underestimated Utility Costs)

September 02,2014

National Grid in New York has removed an online historical cost calculator comparing an ESCO customer's costs to shadow-billed default service costs, the Watertown Daily Times reports today, because, according to the Daily Times the calculator, "underestimated how much ESCO customers would have paid if they had continued to buy electricity or natural gas from the utility."

"As a result, the tool made buying energy from an ESCO seem more expensive in comparison with the utility," the Daily Times reports
