DMN: NextEra Ups Bid for Oncor, TXU/Luminant Would Be Spun Off

July 18,2014

The Dallas Morning News reports on the latest developments in Energy Future Holdings' bankruptcy case, which has seen NextEra Energy essentially up its bid for Oncor, with TXU Energy and Luminant proposed to be spun off

According to the Dallas Morning News, "NextEra proposed a merger with EFH that would give it control of Oncor, the company’s transmission arm. EFH’s power generation and retail businesses, Luminant and TXU Energy, would be spun off into a new company."

That would separate the former A-REP, TXU, from the wires company Oncor, but would also introduce new competitive retail affiliates to Oncor (namely Gexa and NextEra Retail).
