Reuters: Texas Regulators Not Aware Of Potential CFTC Manipulation Probe Into Generator

June 26,2014

Earlier this week, EnergyRisk reported that GDF Suez's bidding activities in ERCOT, "have drawn the attention of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission," citing sources.

The EnergyRisk report says that the CFTC probe is pursuing a similar line to a lawsuit filed by two power traders against GDF Suez, which GDF sought to have dismissed as unfounded based on state and federal law.

Reuters follows up on this report by reporting that "Texas electric regulators are not aware of any investigation of trading activity in the state's $30 billion wholesale market by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission," citing a PUCT spokesperson.
