Buoyed By NRG Critiques, Chron Columnist Calls For "Major Overhaul" Of Texas Wholesale Market

April 21,2017

Citing oft-repeated criticisms from power generators (in this case, NRG) concerning the current ERCOT market design, Houston Chronicle columnist Chris Tomlinson writes that, "lawmakers should start preparing now for a major overhaul of the wholesale market in the years to come."

The reason? Tomlinson buys the arguments that prices are too "low" to induce investment.

We remind readers that Tomlinson has as recently as 2015 written that customers pay "more" for electricity in deregulated markets
