Release: YEP Energy Ranks Among the Best on Texas PUC Official Complaint Scorecard Among Retail Electric Providers (Five Circle Score)

August 26

HOUSTON -- YEP Energy ranks among the best Retail Electric Providers (“REPs”), earning the highest score, with Five Circles pursuant to the Texas Public Utility Commission’s July 2016 Retail Electric Provider Complaint Scorecard.

The Texas Public Utility Commission’s Retail Electric Provider Complaint Scorecard scores REPs into five groupings of approximately equal size based on a 6-month rolling average of complaint rates per 1,000 customer relative to other companies. YEP Energy’s Five Circle Score is as of July 2016 and pertains to Complaint Rates for January 1, 2016 through June 30, 2016.

According to the Scorecard, “In many cases, the P.U.C.'s informal complaint process adequately addresses the customer complaints with quick resolution by the REP. You may wish to also review other resources regarding a REP's customer service such as your local Better Business Bureau.”

YEP Energy also continues to earn the highest rating at the Better Business Bureau, presently with an A+ from the BBB, on a scale of A+ to F, with the BBB’s rating based on 13 factors (For more information, visit http://www.bbb.org/houston/business-reviews/electric-companies/YEP-power-l-p-in-houston-tx-90015548). YEP Energy is proud to be an accredited business with the BBB since 2010.

Recommendations for Choosing Your Retail Electric Provider

Various customer satisfaction studies and complaint ratings are believed by YEP Energy to highlight several tips that electric customers should consider when shopping for a retail electric provider:

1. Shop around and do your research before settling on a retail electric provider – check their Complaint Scorecard Rating and also their BBB rating.

2. Consider a fixed-rate plan. Customers selecting fixed-price electricity plans, for example, 12 months in duration, can provide a stable electricity rate for the length of the contract and offers protection from price swings in the market, leading to possibly more satisfaction than customers opting for variable pricing plans, which offer no such protections. This can reduce the number of questions and complaints, regarding price changes, while avoiding one potential source of customer confusion.

3. Consider a retail electric provider with a reputation for customer service and solid complaint ratings from unbiased sources, such as, YEP Energy believes, the Public Utility Commission Texas’s Scorecards. YEP Energy believes customers who chose a provider based solely on low price “gimmicks” end up less satisfied.

According to the Texas Public Utility Commission’s Retail Electric Provider Complaint Scorecard, “Significant changes in the complaint score may occur from month-to-month for smaller REPs based on only a few complaints. This complaint scorecard should be viewed as only one measure of the customer service provided by REPs. Please note the complaint score is based on a rolling 6-month average of the total number of informal complaints investigated, irrespective of whether or not the company was determined to be at fault or adequately resolved the customer's complaint.”
