Houston Chron Blames "Bright Line" Division in Texas Electric Market For Hampering Storage

December 30,2015

An editorial by the Houston Chronicle concerning "global warming" blames the "bright lines" in the Texas electric market between regulated and competitive functions as hampering storage.

"[P]oliticians need to make sure that regulations don't stand in the way of clean energy. For example, rules governing the Texas electricity market make it difficult for companies to implement large-scale energy storage. Batteries simply don't fit with the current regulations, which draw bright lines between producers, transmitters and consumers," the Chron editorial opines

What do you think of the Chron's take? Is change needed? Or would blurring those bright lines threaten Texas' world-leading competitive electric market? Let us know below by posting a comment below
