ERCOT Provides Update On Multi-Interval Real-Time Market
November 13,2015
ERCOT filed a status update with the PUCT concerning the review of the Multi-Interval Real-Time Market (MIRTM)
ERCOT has been working internally to conduct a study, musing a prototype MIRTM simulator, with the objective of determining a MIRTM's net benefit to the market. Answering the net-benefits question is the primary goal of the study using the prototype MIRTM simulator.
The study process is expected to begin first quarter 2016, and will take the form of ERCOT staff conducting MIRTM simulations and sharing the results with stakeholders. This is expected to be an iterative process, in which results of simulations are discussed with stakeholders and suggested changes/tweaks to the prototype MIRTM simulator are implemented, and simulations rerun, ERCOT said. The goal of the iterative process is to enable stakeholders to make an informed decision on whether the net benefits justify moving forward with a MIRTM Nodal Protocol Revision Request (NPRR), ERCOT said
This process is expected to be completed by the end of 2016, ERCOT said
