Texas Customers Upset Over Unusually High Delivery Service Charges

March 23,2015

NewsWest 9 (Midland/Odessa, Texas) reports that, "[s]ome Sharyland Utilities customers are upset as their electric bills have doubled, even tripled, over the last few months," with the cause attributed to higher delivery rates that Sharyland implemented when it unbundled generation and distribution charges to allow for customer choice.

Several REPs had warned of the potential for rate shock from the implementation of the new delivery rates coincident to customer choice, but thus far there had been few complaints since the introduction of the new delivery rates last spring.
