RG&E Reaches Agreement To Support Exelon Merchant Nuke With Ratepayer Money

February 16,2015

Rochester Gas and Electric has requested New York PSC approval for a "reliability support" contract with Exelon's Ginna nuclear power plant

RG&E has estimated that, over the term of the agreement, the average residential customer using 600 kWh per month will incur an approximately 4.2% rate increase ($3.89/month) on its overall electric bill. The actual amount will vary monthly depending on the market price of energy supply and capacity.

The reliability contract has a term of three and a half years but may be terminated by RG&E prior to expiration
