Reuters reports that electricity futures have begun trading on the Tokyo Commodities Exchange for the first time

Supporters of Japan's newly competitive retail electric market hope the availability of such forwards will increase retail competition and customer choice by providing an alternative to the spot Japan Electric Power Exchange which can experience volatility
