Carrie K. Zalewski and Maria S. Bocanegra were confirmed by the Illinois State Senate late Friday as the newest members of the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC). Zalewski is serving as Chairman.

Chairman Zalewski was appointed to a five-year term on March 29, 2019 by Governor J.B. Pritzker and Commissioner Bocanegra was appointed to a four-year term on April 8, 2019.

Chairman Zalewski has served on the Illinois Pollution Control Board since 2009.

Previously, Zalewski served as Assistant Chief Counsel for the Illinois Department of Transportation. She also worked in private practice.

Commissioner Bocanegra most recently served as Arbitrator at the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission. Previously, Bocanegra held the Public Seat on the Labor Advisory Board for the Illinois Department of Labor. She also worked in private practice handling workers’ compensation and personal injury claims.
