World Fuel Services Corporation, parent of broker/consultant Kinect Energy, reported results for the quarter ending March 31, 2019

World Fuel said that its land segment (which includes energy management/brokering) generated gross profit of $101.5 million, essentially flat year-over-year due to a decline in activity in the U.K. as a result of warm winter weather, which was offset by higher profitability in its Kinect global energy services platform, and its retail, commercial and industrial operations.

The Land segment's income from operations was $21.0 million for the first quarter of 2019, up from $19.6 million a year ago
