Calif. Adopts Law Setting Policy Of Making 100% Of Retail Electric Sales Renewable/Carbon-Free

September 11,2018

Calif. Gov. Jerry Brown has signed SB 100, which states, "It is the policy of the state that eligible renewable energy resources and zero-carbon resources supply 100 percent of all retail sales of electricity to California end-use customers and 100 percent of electricity procured to serve all state agencies by December 31, 2045."

The bill also adopts requirements of 50% renewable by year-end 2026 and 60% renewable by year-end 2030 (renewable only, does not permit non-renewable carbon-free in these specific mandates)
