Electric Rate for Cape Light Compact Aggregation to Increase 70%, Exceed Nstar Rate

November 26,2014

Municipal aggregation is not shielding Cape Cod customers from a 70% increase in electric rates, with rates now exceeding the Nstar basic service rate.

The Cape Light Compact residential rate for the December 2014 through July 2015 meter read will be 15.371 cents/kWh.

That's 70% higher than the current 8.892 cents/kWh, and also exceeds Nstar's rate of 14.972 cents/kWh for January through June 2015.

The Cape Light Compact commercial rate for the December 2014 through July 2015 meter read will be 14.300 cents/kWh. The Nstar commercial rate will be 14.427 cents/kWh for January through June 2015.

The Cape Light Compact industrial rate for the December 2014 through April 2015 meter read will be 20.070 cents/kWh

The Cape Light Compact is also offering a 12-month fixed-price option for residential customers interested in a more stable rate. "All else being equal, longer-term options tend to be a little more expensive than shorter-term rates. These longer-term offers will be lower than 6 month prices during the winter period, but are likely to be more expensive starting in July," the Compact said
