NEM To Honor Robert Powelson At Mid-Atlantic Energy Policy Summit

Industry Leaders to Discuss Forward Path to Continued Success of Retail Markets and Consumer Choice in the Region

Washington, DC (July 18, 2018) – The National Energy Marketers Association (NEM) will convene a Mid-Atlantic Energy Policy Summit on July 26, 2018, at the Hyatt Regency in Baltimore, Maryland. A diverse cross-section of industry stakeholders that participate in and oversee the PJM wholesale and Mid-Atlantic retail energy markets are confirmed and have been invited to attend the open session. The meeting will commence with a welcome address from Catherine Pugh, Mayor of Baltimore. The Summit will follow a NEM members-only Executive Committee meeting on July 25th .

Participants at the Mid-Atlantic Energy Policy Summit will review the energy market rules and practices adopted in the region that have served as a successful platform for sustained opportunities for consumer choice and competitive supplier participation. Discussion will also include market enhancements that can increase the availability of energy-related value-added products and services to consumers by competitive suppliers. “NEM is pleased to gather Mid-Atlantic region energy stakeholders to reflect on the achievements and policy leadership that have supported energy choice options for consumers as well as to identify next steps for further improvements,” said Craig Goodman, President of NEM.

NEM will be presenting an award for “Advancements in Competitive Energy Markets” to Robert Powelson, Commissioner, FERC, for his longstanding service to the public and the industry as a federal and state energy regulator.

Additional keynote addresses will be delivered by Dallas Winslow, Chair, Delaware PSC; Odogwu Linton, Commissioner, Maryland PSC; Upendra Chivukula, Commissioner, New Jersey BPU; Dan Mumford, Director, Office of Competitive Market Oversight, Pennsylvania PUC; Mary Beth Tung, Director, Maryland Energy Administration; Craig Glazer, VP, Federal Government Policy, PJM; Richard Mroz, Commissioner Emeritus, New Jersey BPU; Erin O’Connell-Diaz, Commissioner Emeritus, Illinois Commerce Commission; Jennifer Taylor, Managing Principal, New Economy West Consulting; and Cary Hinton, Policy Advisor, District of Columbia PSC.
