ERCOT Says CPS Unit Not Needed for Transmission System Reliability

October 31,2014

ERCOT issued a final determination that CPS Energy's BRAUNIG_VHB2 unit, for which ERCOT has received a Notification of Suspension of Operations (NSO) with a proposed effective date of January 4, 2015, is not required to support ERCOT transmission system reliability (i.e., voltage support, stability or management of localized transmission constraints under first contingency criteria).

The unit may therefore be mothballed according to the schedule in the NSO.

The NSO had indicated that BRAUNIG_VHB2 will be mothballed for a period of 5-17 months starting January 4, 2015
