New Conn. Draft Maintains Conclusion That Few Benefits Apparent from Supplier Consolidated Billing
July 28,2014
The Connecticut PURA has released a revised draft decision concerning a report to the General Assembly regarding supplier consolidated billing, and the new draft maintains the conclusion that, "there does not appear to be real benefits to ratepayers."
The overall thrust of the revised draft remains the same as the earlier draft, covered by EnergyChoiceMatters.com in May. The revised draft still concludes that, "[T]he billing of all electric services by a multitude of Suppliers at this time does not seem practical."
The most notable change from the May draft is that the revised draft does tweak its discussion of supplier interest in supplier consolidated billing.
The original draft had concluded that, "there is little Supplier interest in offering SCB."
The revised draft softens this finding, although it is still circumspect about supplier interest in SCB. The revised draft states, "[W]hile there is interest among some Suppliers who participated in this proceeding to provide SCB, the lack of Supplier participation in this proceeding seems to infer [sic] that to many, especially smaller companies, the interest in SCB is also lacking."
