Claim: Candidates Suspect Utility APS Influencing Corporation Commission Election

June 23,2014

June 23, 11:55 AM

Two Republican candidates for the Arizona Corporation Commission, "are concerned that Arizona Public Service Co. might be donating money to their opponents," the Arizona Republic reports

While distributed solar is the most divisive utility issue in the state, utilities were also staunchly opposed to blossoming efforts to re-open the state to electric choice.

According to the Arizona Republic, Republican candidates Vernon Parker and Lucy Mason have asked whether APS, or its parent, is contributing to an organization called Arizona 2014, which recently sent emails seeking donations for Republican candidates Tom Forese and Doug Little

"Forese and Little are campaigning with messages that are nearly identical to the official APS company positions on solar, deregulation and other matters," the Arizona Republic reports
