The Empire District Electric Company confirmed that it is in the early stages of exploring strategic alternatives, and has retained a financial advisor with regard to the exploration of such strategic alternatives.

No decision regarding the strategic alternatives has been made by the Board of Directors.

The Empire District Electric Company's natural gas utility, The Empire District Gas Company, which serves parts of Missouri, offers a transportation program, including for small volume firm non-residential customers in addition to large customers
