Texas Co-Op Where Choice-Supporting Candidate Won Seat Proposes New Rate Options

Pedernales Electric Cooperative, which recently saw a candidate (Paul Graf) who favors choice elected to its board, has proposed a series of new rate options for customers

Pedernales Electric Cooperative is a Texas co-op located within ERCOT which currently does not offer customer choice

Among the new rate options proposed are:

• Time of Use Rate: Implement two season with three daily time period TOU rate structure

• Prepaid service: Implement in alignment with installation of required metering infrastructure

• Billing Incentives: Provide bill credit for members that elect to use paperless billing and auto-bank draft; Add convenience fee for credit card payments

• Revised renewable rate rider to reflect actual REC costs

• Increase Net Metering system size to 50kW (from 20kW) with billing period (monthly) true-up and avoided cost rate paid for excess energy produced

• Establish new Net Metering provisions for systems above 50kW with system size limitations

• Develop buy/sell rate for stand alone Distributed Generation of 50 kW or less by paying Avoided Cost less 5%
