September 17,2015
The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has selected new leaders for two key areas associated with grid and market operations, while the New York ISO announced that ERCOT Chief Operating Officer Brad Jones will become NYISO's Chief Executive Officer in October
ERCOT has named Chief of Staff Jeyant Tamby to serve as Interim Chief Operating Officer until his successor is identified. Tamby played a key role in the development of ERCOT’s energy and market systems.
Woody Rickerson, currently director of ERCOT Grid Coordination, will be vice president of ERCOT Grid Planning and Operations, and Kenan Ögelman, director of Energy Market Policy for CPS Energy, will be ERCOT vice president of Commercial Operations.
Rickerson, an ERCOT employee since 2000, has been involved in developing the tools used to operate the ERCOT grid since initial development of the ERCOT zonal market system in 2000, with a number of increasingly responsible roles prior to his most recent position.
Ögelman also has been involved in the ERCOT market since it began. He previously chaired ERCOT’s Technical Advisory Committee and served as a senior economist for the Texas Office of Public Utility Counsel
In addition to these new executives, ERCOT in August named Vice President for Governance, Risk and Compliance Betty Day as Chief Compliance Officer and ERCOT Director of Physical and Cyber Security Ann Delenela as Chief Security Officer. Day is responsible for Strategic Planning, Enterprise Risk Management, Critical Infrastructure Security, Market Rules and Project Management. Delenela, who reports to Day, oversees security of ERCOT’s critical physical and cyber assets.
Jones, NYISO's new CEO, has been with the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) since 2013, where he served as Senior VP and Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for Operations, Grid Planning, and Commercial Operations. Prior to that, he was VP for Commercial Operations at ERCOT. Before joining ERCOT, Jones was VP for Government Affairs at Luminant
