Obama Cites Retail Supplier in Announcing Renewable, Energy Efficiency Actions

The Obama administration announced a series of executive actions and other commitments meant to promote renewable energy, distributed energy, and energy efficiency

Among the programs cited by the administration was Direct Energy's provision of free smart thermostats to low-income Texas customers, under the previously reported TDUs' reimbursement programs

According to the Obama administration news release, Direct Energy has provided over 1,700 programmable thermostats to eligible low-income households in Texas

The release states, "Direct Energy has provided over 1,700 Programmable Thermostats to eligible low-income households in Texas, under a program created by the Public Utility Commission of Texas, in order to help those households better manage their energy usage. Going forward, Direct Energy will continue this effort by partnering with Nest Labs and others to reach as many additional households as possible."
