Direct Energy, First Choice Power Reveal New Brand Look

Revamped marketing approach encourages consumer education, less energy use

Houston, TX (July 28, 2015) - Direct Energy, one of North America’s leading energy and energy-related services providers with nearly five million residential and commercial customers, recently launched a rebranding campaign to reflect its transformative and innovative business approach to serving customers in the competitive retail energy industry.

“At Direct Energy, success means our customers know ways to reduce their energy use, and our new look reflects that way of thinking,” said Mike Beck, Chief Sales Officer & Head of Marketing, Direct Energy. “Our goal is to change the conversation in our industry. Our customers will have access to more information and technology than ever before, so they can buy less of what we sell.”

Last year, Direct Energy embarked on CEO Badar Khan’s vision to become the company that disrupts the industry through consumer education and new technology. A slate of new advertisements introduced through a variety of channels, including television, radio, billboards and digital ads, illustrates Direct Energy’s new tag line, “Live Brighter,” with a brand promise to “help you buy less of what we sell.” [Ed: First Reported by RetailEnergyX.com on July 22]

To kick off this new approach, Direct Energy recently launched Direct Your Plan [Ed: First Reported by EnergyChoiceMatters on July 2] and the second phase of Direct Your Energy. Direct Your Plan is a customizable online shopping experience with real-time price changes according to the choices a customer wants to include in their service plan. Direct Your Energy is a revolutionary online customer experience that shows how much of their energy bill was spent on various appliances throughout their home [Ed: See 7/23 ECM Story]. Both help empower customers with added knowledge that could help them save on their energy bill, or use less of what we sell.

In Houston’s City Center, a giant display covering the top main parking garage entrance showcases Direct Energy’s new look and feel. With the text “ENERGY IS INVISIBLE BUT WE’RE CHANGING HOW YOU SEE IT,” the display, measuring 22 feet high by 65 feet wide, conveys Direct Energy’s brand promise and messaging platform – to be witty, energetic and inspiring.

First Choice Power, a Direct Energy company, will also have an expanded marketing presence in regions around the state, including Corpus Christi. With the new tag line, “You got this,” First Choice Power will focus on offering customers a straightforward low-priced energy product.
