New York Ends Year Still Losing Residential Electric Shoppers

February 17,2015

New York's decline in residential electric shopping continued through year-end, with all of the six major distribution companies seeing a loss of residential electric customers on competitive supply from November 2014 to December 2014.

The monthly loss of residential electric shoppers from November 2014 to December 2014 was:

Central Hudson (89)
ConEd (4,291)
NYSEG (974)
NiMo (15,939)
O&R (196)
RGE (137)

For most EDCs, the December losses are in line with losses or marginal growth recorded in November 2014. However, NiMo went from an increase of 7,000 residential electric shoppers in November 2014 (versus October 2014 data), versus the loss of 16,000 residential shoppers noted above for December 2014.

Here's how many residential electric shoppers New York lost from January 2014 to December 2014

Central Hudson 2,399
ConEd (40,233)
NYSEG (10,951)
NiMo (26,688)
O&R (345)
RGE (6,429)
