ERCOT Identifies Emergency Operations Settlements Error, Will Post Resettlement Statement
August 10,2020
ERCOT said in a market notice that it has identified an error in a manual process used in the calculation of emergency operations Settlements under Protocol Section 6.6.9.
"More specifically, a programming error was found in a spreadsheet used to determine the Emergency Base Point price. In cases in which the Mitigated Offer Cap is extended for settlement purposes, the price and quantity of the extended point were transposed. This programming error, which had been in place since July 2016, impacted the calculation of the Emergency Energy Amount (EMREAMT) payment under Protocol Section 6.6.9.1(1)," ERCOT said in the notice
The programming error was corrected effective Operating Day (OD) July 9, 2020.
"ERCOT has reviewed all historic ODs during which the error might have had an impact. With respect to ODs for which True-Up Statements have already been issued, only one OD, October 21, 2019, met the applicable Protocol criteria for issuance of Resettlement Statements under Protocol Section 9.5.6(2). An RTM Resettlement Statement for OD October 21, 2019, will be posted on August 12, 2020. RTM Settlements for a second OD, June 16, 2020, were also affected by the error. Corrections for OD June 16, 2020 will be reflected in the August 10, 2020 Final Settlement Statements for affected Market Participants," ERCOT said in the notice
