NY Industrials Seek Relief From Policy-Driven Energy Charges

April 13,2020

Multiple Intervenors have sought from the New York PSC a pause in various policy surcharges (energy efficiency, etc.) on the delivery side of the bill

While MI's petition relates to delivery surcharges, MI notes that it is, "open to additional and/or different sources of funds that can be utilized for the same purpose; to wit: providing electric and gas customers of all types with immediate, material rate relief in light of the economic devastation brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and the necessary, government-led responses thereto."

As such, responses to the petition may stray into other policy charges that are addressed on the supply side of the bill, and for which all LSEs (ESCOs included) are responsible for collection and payment, such as RPS and ZEC compliance.
