CEO Of Parent Of Retail Supplier Departs, Interim CEO Named

CenterPoint Energy, Inc. announced that its board of directors has appointed John W. Somerhalder II as interim President and Chief Executive Officer to succeed Scott M. Prochazka, who has stepped down as President and Chief Executive Officer, and as a member of the board of directors.
CenterPoint said in an 8-K that Prochazka's resignation, "was not the result of any disagreement he had with the Company on any matter relating to the Company’s operations, policies and practices."
The company has commenced a process to identify a permanent CEO and has formed a sub-committee of the board to support the selection process. These changes are effective immediately.
Somerhalder previously served as Chief Executive and a Director of AGL Resources Inc. He has served as a Director of CenterPoint Energy, Inc. since 2016
Milton Carroll, Executive Chairman, said, "The board has determined that now is the right time for a new leader with a fresh strategic perspective to lead the company though its next phase of growth and value creation."
Somerhalder most recently served as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer of Colonial Pipeline Company. Somerhalder also previously served in a number of roles with El Paso Corporation
