Number Of Customers On Competitive Retail Supply In Long Island Falls After State Sales Tax Change

November 25,2019

Newsday reports that the number of electric customers on competitive retail electric supply at the Long Island Power Authority has decreased due to the previously reported elimination of the exemption from "sales" tax (applicable to non-residential customers) for deliveries of electricity and natural gas supply to customers of ESCOs.

See more details on the end of the sales tax exemption here in EnergyChoiceMatters.com

Newsday, citing data from LIPA, reports that 3,300 C&I electric customers have returned to default service since the tax change

Newsday cites Direct Energy as pointing to the sales tax change as the reason for the return of LIPA customers to utility supply
