Providence, RI Pursuing Municipal Aggregation

The City Council of the City of Providence, Rhode Island recently voted to authorize the Office of Sustainability to develop a municipal aggregation plan

The Office of Sustainability will release a Request for Proposals in the coming weeks to engage consultants with experience in developing and administering community choice aggregation programs to assist the City in the creation and operation of an aggregation plan.

Providence is the largest city in Rhode Island, with a population of about 179,000

No municipality in Rhode Island has yet implemented an opt-out municipal aggregation, but, as previously reported, some municipalities are in the process of developing such aggregations
