New Electric Rates For NOPEC Aggregation Customers

May 13,2019

Electric customers for certain territories in the Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council (NOPEC) municipal aggregation will see new rates effective with the July 2019 meter read date

For residential customers at Cleveland Electric Illuminating, Ohio Edison, and AEP Ohio (apart from those within the City of Cleveland), NOPEC is offering the following rates effective with the July 2019 meter read date

• Option 1: an initial price fixed for three months will be $0.05390 per kWh (5.39 cents per kWh) from the July 2019 meter read date until the October 2019 meter read date. After that, the price may change from month to month but not more than once in a 30 day period for the remaining term of the contract and will be published on NOPEC’s website at least 30 days prior to its effective date. The supplier and NOPEC will determine the new variable rate based on the following factors: competitor’s prices, applicable industry charges, wholesale market conditions and electricity supply sources. Option 1 is the default pricing option

• Option 2: A monthly variable price option under which the price will be 6% less than The Illuminating Company or Ohio Edison (as applicable) Price to Compare. Enrollment in this option is limited and subject to availability.

For small commercial electric customers at Cleveland Electric Illuminating, Ohio Edison, and AEP Ohio, customers have the option of a fixed rate of 5.39 cents per kWh from July 2019 until October 2019 and variable thereafter, or an option with a monthly variable rate that is 4% less than the utility's price to compare

For residential and small commercial customers within the City of Cleveland, the default NOPEC pricing option is a 100% renewable fixed rate of $0.05425 per kWh (5.425 cents per kWh) beginning with the next available meter read date on or around July 2019 and continuing until the January 2020 meter read date. Residential customers within the City of Cleveland may also choose a monthly variable price option, with the price set at 6% less than The Illuminating Company’s Price to Compare (this option is 4% below the PTC for small commercial customers). Enrollment in this option is limited and subject to availability.
