New York DPS Staff Schedules Stakeholder Technical Conference On Interruptible Gas Service

New York Department of Public Service (DPS) Staff will convene a stakeholder technical conference regarding Interruptible Gas Service for Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (Con Edison), The Brooklyn Union Gas Company d/b/a National Grid NY, and KeySpan Gas East Corporation d/b/a National Grid (collectively as 'National Grid') on November 27, 2018, from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
The purpose of this conference is for stakeholders to discuss and share information regarding the longer-term policy approaches for gas system reliability of interruptible gas service during peak winter periods, as well as provide an opportunity to clarify and ask questions related to the below stated presentations and topics:
• Alternate fuel inventory requirement for interruptible customers.
• Recent customer performance issues relating to attempts to meet tariff requirements of interruptible service.
• Availability of alternate fuels and on site fuel storage limitations.
• Current structural or engineering constraints on local distribution systems which may impede conversion to firm service.
• Environmental goals, including New York City Clean Heat Program and State Greenhouse Gas Reduction Goals.
• Tank monitoring devices.
• Automatic shut off valves.
• Efficiency programs for interruptible customers.
• Conversion of buildings to non-fossil fuel heating systems.
• Solutions that can ensure the reliability of winter heating fuel systems while meeting environmental goals.
