ConEdison Solutions Officially Announces MA Market Entry for Individual Residential Customers

November 12,2014

ConEdison Solutions officially announced this morning that it has begun offering electric service to individual residential customers in Massachusetts.

EnergyChoiceMatters.com had first reported in October that ConEdison Solutions had expanded from only serving Massachusetts residential customers via aggregation to offering service to individual customers, with residential offers at National Grid, Nstar, and WMECO

ConEdison Solutions' official release, which is specific to National Grid, is below. RetailEnergyX.com disclaims any responsibility for the content of the release below, and makes no averment as to its accuracy or statements..

CON EDISON SOLUTIONS OFFERS HOUSEHOLDS AND SMALL BUSINESS CUSTOMERS OF NATIONAL GRID A MONEY-SAVING ALTERNATIVE

Burlington, MA – November 12, 2014: ConEdison Solutions is offering money-saving alternatives for customers of National Grid, which recently raised its default rate for residential electricity, doubling the cost to homeowners from the previous month’s rate.

ConEdison Solutions is offering a 12-month fixed-price plan with savings in the range of 20 percent when compared with National Grid’s current residential default rate for electricity supply.

For small businesses, ConEdison Solutions offers a price 13 percent lower than National Grid’s current small business default rate.

ConEdison Solutions’ fixed-price plan offers an alternative to the utility’s standard service rate by ensuring that its price for electricity will not increase for the length of the contract term.

For the supply portion of their electricity bill, Massachusetts residents and small businesses have the option of selecting an alternative provider instead of purchasing supplies from their local utility. Customers switching to a retail supplier continue to have their electricity delivered by their existing utility, and the utility continues to respond to outages and read the meter. The customer still receives and pays one single bill from their utility. Their bill, however, indicates that the supply portion of their invoice is being provided by the chosen alternative supplier at their agreed-upon price.

While energy choice has been available for many years in Massachusetts, recent regulatory changes have attracted additional electricity suppliers to enter the market. More competition means more options for Massachusetts customers.

“Many Massachusetts energy users are still unaware that they have a choice of electricity provider,” said Michael Perna, Vice President of ConEdison Solutions, one of the largest retail energy suppliers in the country.

ConEdison Solutions, with its local office in Burlington, has been serving Massachusetts homes and small businesses for nearly ten years through municipal aggregations. With the recent changes to Massachusetts’ energy choice program, the company now offers electricity supply to all National Grid customers.

“Thanks to Massachusetts’ competitive electricity marketplace, smart consumers can secure major savings,” said Mr. Perna. “This translates into budget relief for households and small businesses alike.”
