Still Using Faxed Ads to Promote Retail Energy Offers? This FCC Ruling Will Be of Interest

November 11,2014

Public Citizen's Consumer Law & Policy blog has an update on a recent Federal Communications Commission order concerning advertisements sent via fax.

We don't know the current use of facsimile advertisements by retail energy companies, but in ancient times (pre-Lehman collapse, and when Blackberry was still king), when we still worked for a retail supplier, several of our brokers relied on faxed ads.

If you're still using this practice, Public Citizen's blog notes the FCC has issued a ruling discussing opt-out notices and other requirements for such ads.
