PUC Says Marketing Of Retail Electricity On Social Media "On Our Radar"

March 12,2018

The Bangor (ME) Daily News reports that the use of social media posts to promote retail electricity offers by independent agents of retail suppliers -- particularly in response to media coverage of high utility bills -- is on the Maine PUC's, "radar."

The BDN notes that independent agents of one supplier are being prolific in their use of Facebook and other platforms, with the BDN warning that the supplier's contracts, "won’t do a thing to shield customers from higher rates charged by a power utility such as CMP."
