Report: NY LDC To Use Interim Surcharge To "Dilute" True-up Impact On Supply Price From Recent Cold
February 16,2018
A report from Nyack (NY) News and Views says that Orange & Rockland will use its existing interim surcharge mechanism on its Gas Supply Charge to "dilute" a true-up required to account for higher supply prices from recent extreme cold weather.
The report from Nyack News and Views says, "O&R warns that February’s bill won’t be pretty either. To cushion the blow, the utility says it will spread out the big hurt all the way through August. The gas supply charge on your bill will be raised by a monthly amount aimed to dilute the cold snap 'true-up.' You can find that amount on the O&R New York Rates and Tariffs page (see image and link) in field number 7, 'Interim surcharge.'"
The interim surcharge is a line item on the Gas Supply Charge Statement that in recent months has been $0.
However, starting in February, an interim surcharge of 10.510¢ per CCF will be applied as part of the Gas Supply Charge, which overall will increase to 51.215¢ per CCF from 35.337¢ per CCF in January
