RESA Letter To The Editor Published In Albany Times Union

November 15,2017

The Albany Times Union published a letter from the Retail Energy Supply Association written in response to a recent TU editorial which called for the New York PSC to hold ESCOs "accountable"

RESA's letter notes that RESA shared the stated goals of transparency espoused by the TU, as RESA also, "supports robust oversight and enhanced ESCO eligibility requirements so customers can have confidence in their energy shopping decisions."

"We agree that New York needs an energy market that doesn't come with surprises on people's bills. That's why ESCOs offer fixed-rate options to help control energy costs, offering a valuable benefit not available from variably priced utility service," RESA said in its letter

"However, any reforms must preserve a customer's right to choose for themselves what energy products and services offer value," RESA said
