Albany Times Union Editorial: Hold ESCOs Accountable

November 01,2017

The Albany Times Union published an editorial calling for the PSC to hold ESCOs accountable.

While the TU said that, "ESCOs have [the] potential to be fair and useful, if the Public Service Commission does this right," the TU called for greater transparency and simplicity in the shopping decision.

Most notably, the TU said that, when ESCO service is pitched to a customer, "The state must require an estimate of a likely bill, based on the customer's actual usage, including all charges and fees."
