City Councilor Seeks Investigation Into Operations of Retail Supplier After Door-to-Door Visit

September 12,2014

New Bedford, Massachusetts City Councilor Steven Martins is calling for an investigation of the operations of a retail energy supplier after being solicited by the supplier in a door-to-door sale, WBSM-1420 reports

According to WBSM, Martins said he was visited by representatives of the supplier, "and noted that the employees were rude, pushy, and deceptive."

Martins wants the Council to ask the Attorney General to, as described by WBSM, "suspend the company’s license," which we do not think the AG would be empowered to do, at least with respect to the company's retail supplier license. If the AG had any such authority, we would expect that it would relate to a general state business license/registration or, if such matters are handled at the state level, the company's peddler's license

See WBSM for more, including the identity of the supplier
