Don't Expect Improvement in PECO Headroom This Fall (PTC Set to Decline)

July 02,2014

Retail suppliers should not anticipate any improvement in headroom in the PECO residential electric market starting in September, as PECO is projected a further decrease in its default service rate on September 1.

Obviously, actual headroom will depend on both market prices as well as the PECO default rate, but all other things being equal, headroom is due to shrink if PECO's projected default service rate holds true.

Specifically, PECO is estimating that the September 1 Rate R residential Price to Compare will be 8.3 cents per kWh, versus the current 8.58 cents per kWh.

The actual rate, for Sept. 1 through Nov. 30, may be higher or lower than the estimate.

In contrast, PECO's GS Price to Compare for businesses under 100 kW is estimated to increase from 8.54¢ to 9.27¢ on September 1

See PECO's PTC charts for more details, and estimates for additional commercial rate classes and demand groups
