Bloomberg: PPL Said To Be in Talks to Sell Merchant Power Unit Stake to Riverstone

Bloomberg reports on the latest regarding PPL Corp.'s competitive supply unit, reporting that PPL, "is in talks to sell a stake in its electric power subsidiary [PPL Energy Supply] to Riverstone Holdings LLC as part of a tax-free spinoff of the unit."

PPL Energy Supply includes retail supplier PPL EnergyPlus as well as merchant generation

Bloomberg reports that that transaction would be accomplished as a Reverse Morris Trust.

The Allentown Morning Call had previously reported that Riverstone execs had visited several PPL plants this spring, fueling speculation.
